Soil steaming to disinfect barnyardgrass-infested soil masses

چکیده

Abstract Reusing soil can reduce environmental impacts associated with obtaining natural fresh during road construction and analogous activities. However, the movement reuse of soils spread numerous plant diseases pests, including propagules weeds invasive alien species. To avoid barnyardgrass in reused soil, its seeds must be killed before that is to new areas. We investigated possibility thermal control using a prototype stationary steaming device. One Polish four Norwegian seed populations were examined for sensitivity. mimic range moisture content, dried moistened 0, 12, 24, or 48 h steaming. find effective temperatures whether exposure duration important, we tested target 60 99 C at an 90 s (Experiment 1) durations 30, 90, 180 temperature 2). Responses of Guava Plants to Inoculation with Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Soil Infested with Meloidogyne enterolobii

In the Northeast of Brazil, expansion of guava crops has been impaired by Meloidogyne enterolobii that causes root galls, leaf fall and plant death. Considering the fact that arbuscular mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) improve plant growth giving protection against damages by plant pathogens, this work was carried out to select AMF efficient to increase production of guava seedlings and their tolerance ...

Improving Soil Physical Indicators by Soil Amendment to a Saline-Sodic Soil

The application of organic amendments can be an appropriate solution to reclaim and improve physical propertiesof saline-sodic soils. In this research, an experiment was performed under greenhouse conditions to study the effect ofamendments to the physical properties of loamy saline-sodic soil. The five treatments were control (withoutamendment), municipal solid waste compost (MC), vermicompost...

Managing soil nitrogen to restore annual grass-infested plant communities: effective strategy or incomplete framework?

Theoretical and empirical work has established a positive relationship between resource availability and habitat invasibility. For nonnative invasive annual grasses, similar to other invasive species, invader success has been tied most often to increased nitrogen (N) availability. These observations have led to the logical assumption that managing soils for low N availability will facilitate re...

Soil and Soil Survey

A and how the response of management affects them are considered. The information collected in a soil survey helps in the development of land-use plans and evaluates and predicts the effects of land use on the environment. Soil surveys were first authorized in the United States in 1896. Although extensive writings on husbandry by L.J.M. Columella were published in the first century A.D., practi...

Rootstock Effects on Pistachio Trees Grown in Verticillium dahliae-Infested Soil.

ABSTRACT In a field trial in soil infested with Verticillium dahliae, we compared the yield, growth, incidence of symptoms of Verticillium wilt, and mortality of two interspecific hybrid pistachio tree rootstocks (UCBI and PGII) with the standard rootstocks: the V. dahliae-resistant and susceptible Pistacia integerrima and P. atlantica, respectively. After 10 years, the trees were destructively...
